Ozorków lies in the flat country of central Poland, a short distance north of Łódź, on the Bzura River. In the early nineteenth century it was developed as a centre for cloth-making, and new streets were laid out for the weavers who settled here. That history is still visible on the map, where regular streets sit alongside the older, less orderly core.

The Bzura winds through the area with its narrow floodplain, and the main streets run roughly parallel and perpendicular to it, forming a loose grid. Former mill and factory sites sit close to the water, from the era when rivers powered industry.
