Ridge roads
Main routes follow the crests of the hills while smaller roads branch down the slopes, producing a pattern that looks almost like the veins of a leaf.

La carte
Shangi Map Poster & Print
Shangi lies in Rwanda's Western Province, in the Nyamasheke area close to the eastern shore of Lake Kivu. This is a country of steep hills and deep valleys, and from above the settlement appears less as a grid than as a web of roads tracing ridges and descending toward the water.
The surrounding hills are heavily cultivated, and the map reflects this in a scatter of small tracks and footpaths linking homes, fields and neighbouring communities. Lines curve constantly, rarely running straight for long, because the terrain decides their course. Where the land drops toward the lake, the pattern thins and the shoreline adds a single, softer edge.
A Shangi map poster turns this landscape into an elegant study of movement across hills: curving roads, branching paths and the calm expanse of the lake nearby. It is an image of a particular corner of Rwanda, and for people with family ties to the region it makes a personal, understated piece.

Rural texture
Outside the centre, fine tracks connect scattered homes and fields, giving the poster a delicate, hand-drawn quality typical of the Rwandan countryside.

Pourquoi Shangi
Une carte qui a du sens
A map of Shangi speaks to people who were born there, work there or keep family links to the Western Province. It is a way to hold on to the shape of a hillside home when life happens elsewhere.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line are yours to edit, and the Blueprint or Sand styles suit the curving roads especially well. Try the free 900 px watermarked preview first, then choose HD files or a printed poster.
