Contour-following roads
The roads leading into town bend repeatedly as they climb and descend, so on the poster they appear as long, looping lines rather than direct routes.

The map
Golungo Alto lies in Cuanza Norte province, in the uplands northeast of Luanda. On a map the town is compact, a modest cluster of streets on uneven ground, and most of the frame is taken up by what surrounds it: roads that twist to follow contours, small watercourses cutting into valleys, and scattered settlements linked by tracks through hilly terrain.
The region was long associated with agriculture, coffee in particular, and it was an early centre of Portuguese presence inland. That history left a town of limited size rather than a sprawling grid. The street network is short and practical, shaped more by the lie of the land than by any single plan, which gives the map an organic, hand-drawn quality.
A Golungo Alto map poster works best when it keeps that balance: a small knot of urban lines at the centre and a wider field of winding roads and streams around it. In a minimalist style the curves of the approach roads become the main feature, and the empty space between them speaks for the hills and forest that the map does not draw.
The roads leading into town bend repeatedly as they climb and descend, so on the poster they appear as long, looping lines rather than direct routes.
The built-up area is small, a tight group of streets that reads clearly even at larger print sizes and gives the design a clear focal point.
Small rivers and streams thread between the hills, drawn as fine lines that hint at the folded, well-watered landscape of the Cuanza Norte uplands.
