The map
Guasdualito lies in the south-west of Venezuela in Apure state, on the western edge of the llanos, the great tropical plains of the Orinoco basin. The country is flat and open. Rivers meander widely here and often shift course, and seasonal flooding spreads water across large areas in the rainy months. From above, the town is a compact grid set in a landscape of curving waterways and wide pasture.
The town is close to the border with Colombia and serves as a centre for ranching and trade in this part of Apure. Cattle country surrounds it, as it does most of the llanos. The Guasdualito map poster reflects this setting, showing a small, ordered street pattern surrounded by the loose, winding lines of the plain.
In monochrome, the contrast works well. Straight blocks sit at the centre, and long river loops and oxbows spread outward into open space. The sparse detail of the llanos makes the composition feel wide and quiet, suggesting the flat horizon of the plains without any need for colour.

The town's streets form a small, regular grid in the centre of the frame. It is an ordered shape against the open, irregular plain.
Flat grassland extends in every direction. On the print it becomes calm white space, giving the town and rivers plenty of room.
