The map

About this Hisor map poster

Hisor lies in the broad Hisor Valley west of Dushanbe, with the high ridges of the Hisor Range rising to the north. From above, the town is a mix of long straight roads, walled household plots and irrigated fields. Canals and tree-lined lanes divide the land into long strips that run down from the foothills.

The best-known landmark is the Hisor Fortress, a historic stronghold whose restored gateway stands between brick towers. Nearby madrasas and old caravanserai sites form a protected historical reserve. For centuries the valley was an important stop on routes through Central Asia, and the fortress site recalls the town's role as a regional seat of power.

A Hisor map poster shows the fortress area and the modern town side by side, with the pattern of fields and channels spreading around them. In monochrome the irrigated land becomes a fine linear texture, and the mountains to the north appear as a quieter zone where the road network ends. The result is historic and agricultural at once.

01

Hisor Fortress

The fortress and its restored gateway sit at the heart of a historical reserve with madrasas nearby, and on the map it is the old centre of the valley.

02

Irrigated valley fields

Canals and tree-lined lanes divide the farmland into long parallel plots, a pattern that gives much of the map a fine, combed texture.

03

Hisor Range foothills

To the north the land rises toward the mountains. Roads grow sparse and follow valleys, marking the edge between farmland and high country.

Why Hisor

A map that means something

This map suits people from Hisor and the Dushanbe area, and travellers who visited the fortress on a trip through Tajikistan. The mix of historic core and farmland makes a thoughtful, well-balanced composition.

Add your own title and subtitle, in Latin or Cyrillic lettering, with a date if you like, and keep or change the coordinates line. The five styles are Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand echoes the dry tones of the valley.
