Valley-following streets
Roads bend with the terrain rather than running straight, giving the street network a flowing, irregular character typical of mountain towns in the region.

La mappa
Xintian Map Poster & Print
Xintian lies in the mountainous southeast of Chongqing Municipality, a region of steep ridges, narrow valleys and rivers cut deep into the land. In terrain like this, towns cannot spread out in neat grids. Instead, streets follow the valley floor and the easier slopes, and buildings cluster wherever the land allows, producing a map shaped as much by topography as by planning.
From above, the result is a linear, organic settlement pattern. Main roads trace the curves of the landscape, smaller lanes branch off at irregular angles, and open spaces are often simply ground too steep to build on. Places like this are common across rural Chongqing, yet each has its own outline, set by the particular bends of its valley.
A Xintian map poster records that outline precisely, showing the way a community has fitted itself into a demanding landscape. It works as a personal reminder of a hometown or family place. It is also a quiet graphic study of how roads and houses adapt to hills when flat land is scarce.

Compact built core
Buildings are concentrated where the ground is most usable, so the town appears as a dense, elongated cluster within a much larger open landscape.
Mountain setting
Steep surrounding slopes leave broad unbuilt areas on the map, framing the settlement and emphasising the shape of the valley it occupies.
