Dukuhturi lies in Tegal Regency on the flat northern coastal plain of Central Java, right beside the city of Tegal. From above, it looks less like one town and more like a continuous weave of settlements. Clusters of houses line the roads and lanes, and small open patches between them hint at the farmland that once covered most of the ground.
Being so close to Tegal, the area has no single centre. Instead, the street network runs straight into the neighbouring city's roads, and the boundary is almost impossible to spot on a map. Minor lanes branch off the main routes in fine, irregular lines. Here and there, drainage channels and small watercourses cross the plain toward the coast to the north.
