Tarub lies in Tegal Regency in Central Java, a short distance south of the city of Tegal and the Java Sea coast. It is a district of closely set villages rather than a single town centre. From above it appears as a mesh of small settlements, each a tangle of lanes and rooftops, separated by strips of rice field and irrigation ditches.
The land is flat and fertile, part of the coastal plain that runs along the northern side of Java. Roads connecting Tegal with Slawi, the regency seat, pass through or near the district. These longer routes stand out on the map as straighter lines among the finer network of village paths.
A Tarub map poster reflects the texture of rural Central Java: dense housing, narrow lanes and green space worked into every gap. In Sand the fields take on a warm tone. Noir turns the network of paths into a fine, glowing web of lines that reaches to almost every edge of the sheet.
