The map

About this Kabarnet map poster

Kabarnet is the capital of Baringo County in Kenya, set high on the Tugen Hills. To the west, the ground drops steeply into the Kerio Valley, and to the east the land falls towards Lake Baringo and the floor of the Rift Valley, which gives the town a dramatic position between two deep basins.

On the map, that setting produces a narrow, stretched layout. The main roads follow the ridge, and streets branch out along the few gentler slopes, while the terrain limits how far the town can spread. The approach road climbs in long bends, one of the most recognisable lines in the frame.

A Kabarnet map poster turns this topography into a clean composition. The town forms a slender cluster along the high ground, surrounded by switchbacks and scattered settlements. Even without contour lines, the shape of the streets makes it clear that this is a place built on a ridge, with wide views on either side.

01

Ridge-top layout

The town follows the line of the Tugen Hills, giving the built-up area a long, narrow shape that reflects the steep ground on both sides.

02

Winding approach roads

Roads climb to the town in tight bends and switchbacks, creating some of the most expressive curves on the map.

03

Between two valleys

The Kerio Valley lies to the west and the Lake Baringo basin to the east, framing the town with open, sparsely marked space.
