The map
Kattaqo’rg’on lies in the Samarqand Region of Uzbekistan, in the broad Zeravshan valley west of Samarkand. The valley is intensively irrigated, and the land around the town is divided by canals and field boundaries into a fine, regular pattern.
The town itself combines an older centre of irregular lanes with later districts laid out in straight streets and large blocks, many of them built around the railway line that crosses the town. To the south lies the Kattaqo’rg’on Reservoir, a large body of water sometimes called the Uzbek Sea, which regulates irrigation across the valley.
The town grew as a trading and agricultural centre on the route between Samarkand and Bukhara. A Kattaqo’rg’on Shahri map poster brings together that inheritance: the curving lanes of the old quarter, the geometry of the Soviet-era districts and the railway, surrounded by the canal-cut fields of the Zeravshan.
The railway crosses the town in a long straight line, with stations, yards and industrial plots gathered along it, forming a clear axis on the map.
Irregular lanes in the older centre sit beside the straight streets and larger blocks of later districts, giving the poster two distinct textures.
Canals and field boundaries surround the town in a dense pattern of fine lines, showing how much of the valley depends on managed water.
