The map
Kochani lies in the east of North Macedonia, where the Osogovo mountains drop down to the broad Kočani valley. The town is built along a river descending from the hills, with streets spreading out on either side and a compact older centre marked by a clock tower. To the south, the map flattens into the valley floor, divided into a regular, finely drawn pattern of fields.
Those fields are the town's signature. The Kočani valley is the heart of rice growing in North Macedonia, and Kočani rice is known across the Balkans. The paddies are flooded each spring, turning the plain into a sheet of water crossed by embankments and irrigation channels. The Bregalnica river runs through the valley, adding one long, gentle curve to the landscape.
A Kochani map poster brings these contrasts together: mountain slopes to the north, the town gathered along its river, and the orderly geometry of the rice fields to the south. Few towns in the region have such a clear relationship with their surroundings, and it translates into an elegant, highly legible design for any wall.

The valley floor is divided into flooded rice fields, embankments and channels, a finely ruled pattern unique within North Macedonia.
North of town the ground rises toward the Osogovo range, and the street grid gives way to winding roads and forested slopes.
