The map

About this Kosonsoy map poster

Kosonsoy lies in Namangan Region, on the northern edge of the Fergana Valley, where the flat, irrigated valley floor meets the first ridges of the mountains to the north. The Kosonsoy river, which gives the town its name, comes down from the uplands and flows past the town into the valley.

That position is clear on a map. North of the town the terrain rises and the road network thins, while to the south streets and field boundaries become denser, following the old logic of oasis agriculture, with canals and orchards. The town centre forms a compact core where the main roads meet.

A Kosonsoy map poster captures that threshold between mountain and valley. The river's line, the grid of fields and the cluster of mahallas at the centre give the black-and-white print strong structure, suited to anyone with family ties to this part of Uzbekistan.

01

Kosonsoy river

The river leaves the foothills and runs toward the valley floor, a natural axis that shaped where the town grew.

02

Foothill boundary

To the north the map opens into rising ground and sparse roads, a clear edge against the dense, cultivated valley to the south.

03

Irrigated field pattern

Canals and field boundaries around the town form a fine, regular pattern typical of Fergana Valley agriculture.
