The map
Kosovo Polje, known in Albanian as Fushë Kosova, sits just west of Pristina on the broad, open plain whose name means Field of Blackbirds. The town and the capital have grown so close that on the map they almost merge, joined by main roads and newer neighbourhoods that fill the space between them.
The town developed as a railway junction, and the tracks are one of the most visible features on the print, crossing the plain and branching near the station. Around them, older and irregular lanes mix with rows of newer houses and commercial buildings along the main roads. Flat farmland stretches beyond toward the surrounding hills.
The plain has a long place in the region's history. The Battle of Kosovo was fought in this area in 1389, and the memory of it still shapes how the landscape is understood. A Kosovo Polje map poster, though, shows the everyday town of today, with its junctions, rail lines and houses spread across the level ground.
Rail lines meet and branch near the station. They are drawn as long, confident strokes across the plain and give the town its main structural lines.
To the east, the town's streets run into the western neighbourhoods of the capital, so the print captures the point where two urban areas meet.
Beyond the built-up area, flat fields extend in every direction. These wide, quiet spaces make the dense town centre stand out sharply.
