The map

About this Kurikka map poster

Kurikka lies in South Ostrobothnia in western Finland, on the Kyrönjoki river. The landscape is typical of the region: flat, open fields, long straight roads and farmhouses lined up along the river and the village roads. Forest and bog take over further from the river valley.

The town centre is compact. A small grid of streets around the church and shops sits close to the river. The municipality is far larger than the centre, especially since it merged with neighbouring Jalasjärvi in 2016, and includes many villages spread out across the countryside.

A Kurikka map poster captures this Ostrobothnian pattern: the river running through the middle, the concentrated streets of the centre and the long rows of settlement along the roads. The open fields leave large areas of white, which gives the design a quiet, Nordic calm.
