The map

About this Langford map poster

Langford is part of the Western Communities of Greater Victoria on southern Vancouver Island. Since its incorporation in 1992 it has been one of the fastest-growing municipalities in British Columbia. Within a few decades, former rural land and gravel pits became neighbourhoods, shopping districts and sports facilities.

The Trans-Canada Highway cuts through the city on its way north toward the Malahat, and much of Langford's commercial core lies close to it. Away from this corridor, the streets become a pattern of cul-de-sacs and winding drives that climb the rocky hills. Langford Lake and Florence Lake lie within the city, and forested parkland fills many of the gaps.

A Langford map poster shows a city still taking shape. The older straight roads, the newer curving subdivisions and the irregular outlines of lakes and hillsides make a lively composition. It reflects the terrain of the island as much as the pace of recent growth.

01

Langford Lake

This sizeable freshwater lake on the west side of the city is surrounded by homes and trails. It is one of the clearest shapes on the map.

02

Trans-Canada corridor

Highway 1 runs through Langford toward the Malahat Drive as a bold diagonal line. It anchors the commercial areas and separates the city's neighbourhoods from one another.

03

Hillside subdivisions

Newer streets loop around rocky knolls and forested slopes. They create the curving, branching patterns typical of West Coast suburbs built on uneven ground.
