Where rivers meet
The Kleine Emme joins the Reuss at Littau's eastern edge. The two watercourses, with the roads and rails along them, form the district's main corridor.

The map
Littau was an independent municipality until 2010, when it merged with the city of Lucerne. It covers the city's western side, where the land drops from wooded hills to the river valleys below. Most residents still call it Littau, and on a map it keeps its own shape: suburban streets packed into the valley floor with farmland and forest rising above them.
Water sets the structure. The Kleine Emme flows through the area to meet the Reuss near Reussbühl, and roads, railway lines and residential blocks crowd along these valley floors. Above them, the terrain rises steeply, and the street pattern gives way to winding lanes, scattered farmsteads and the irregular edges of woodland.
A Littau map poster shows that shift from valley density to open hillside in one frame. Apartment blocks, industrial plots and transport corridors fill the lower half, while the upper slopes are mostly empty and marked only by a few curving roads. The two halves together read unmistakably as the Swiss Mittelland.
The Kleine Emme joins the Reuss at Littau's eastern edge. The two watercourses, with the roads and rails along them, form the district's main corridor.
Above the valley floor, roads switch back and forth up the slopes. On the poster they appear as fine, looping lines between farms and forest.
Housing, workshops and rail tracks pack tightly into the flat land. This makes the lower part of the map noticeably darker and more intricate than the hills.

Why Littau
Littau suits people who grew up in its apartment blocks or on the farms above them, and anyone who lives on the quieter western side of Lucerne. The map has a strong contrast between busy valley and open hill.
You can title it Littau or Luzern-Littau, and use the subtitle and coordinates line for a date that matters to you. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
