The map

About this Loznica map poster

Loznica lies in western Serbia, in the Jadar region, a short distance from the Drina, which forms the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina here. The town spreads across flat land between the river plain and the first slopes of the hills. Its central streets form a fairly regular pattern, and newer neighbourhoods and roads branch out from them toward the villages.

The area has a strong place in Serbian culture. Tršić, the nearby village where the language reformer Vuk Karadžić was born, draws visitors from all over the country. To the east rises Cer mountain, where the Serbian army won the first Allied victory of the First World War in August 1914.

A Loznica map poster brings these layers into one frame: the braided line of the Drina along the western edge, the ordered centre and the roads climbing into the wooded hills. The spa town of Banja Koviljača lies just upstream along the same river.

01

The Drina border

The river winds past the town's western side, with gravel bars and side channels that turn into sweeping curved lines on a black-and-white print.

02

Road to Tršić

Roads lead out of town toward the hills and Tršić, the birthplace of Vuk Karadžić and one of the region's best-known heritage sites.

03

Cer to the east

The Cer massif rises beyond the town. It is the site of the 1914 battle, and its foothills set the eastern limit of the built-up area.

Why Loznica

A map that means something

Loznica means a great deal to many families in the Podrinje region and across the Serbian diaspora. A map of it is a way to keep the river, the hills and the familiar streets close, whether it marks a childhood home or a return visit.

Add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, then pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 digital files come in six print sizes as 300 DPI PNG and PDF, and printed posters ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
