The map
Lubalo is a municipality in Lunda Norte province in northeastern Angola, a region better known for diamond mining than for its towns. Settlements here are small and far apart. Long roads and tracks cross wooded savanna, and rivers flowing north toward the Congo basin cut the land into a series of valleys.
On a map, the main settlement is a modest cluster of streets and buildings. The road network around it is thin and widely spaced, and most of the sheet is open land. Rivers and streams add long, winding lines, often lined by strips of denser vegetation, which give the landscape a clear direction.
A Lubalo map poster is a very sparse composition. It has a small inhabited centre, a few roads and a large, quiet landscape shaped by water. The drawing is calm and simple. It shows a place that is remote from national centres but has its own clear geography.

A few roads and tracks link Lubalo to other towns in the Lunda region. They cross large areas of open land between settlements.
The inhabited area is a modest cluster of streets. It stands out against the wide surrounding landscape as the poster's focal point.
