The map

About this Maramag map poster

Maramag is a municipality in the province of Bukidnon, on the high central plateau of Mindanao. On a map its town centre forms a modest cluster of streets along the Sayre Highway, the main road that crosses the province from north to south. Around it, the land is a mix of farmland, rolling hills and river valleys, with barangays linked by smaller roads.

The Pulangi River, one of the major rivers of Mindanao, flows through the area, and a hydroelectric dam on it has created a reservoir within the municipality. Much of the surrounding land is planted with rice, corn and sugarcane, and the long field boundaries and irrigation lines add a fine, regular texture to the map around the town.

Maramag is also home to Central Mindanao University, whose extensive campus in Musuan includes farmland, research plots and forest on the slopes near Mount Musuan. A Maramag map poster shows a place where a highway town, a university and a working agricultural landscape meet, a combination that feels distinctly of the Bukidnon uplands.

01

Sayre Highway

The national highway runs through the town as its main axis, with the busiest streets and the market area gathered along it and roads branching off toward outlying barangays.

02

Pulangi River

The river winds through the municipality in a broad valley, and its reservoir adds a large irregular water shape that stands out clearly against the surrounding fields.

03

University campus

Central Mindanao University occupies a wide area in Musuan, its internal roads, buildings and experimental farms forming a distinct pattern apart from the town centre.
