Irrigation canals
Straight canals cross the plain around town, drawn as long, parallel lines that organise the fields and roads alike and make the map read like a technical plan.

The map
Moskovskiy lies in the south of Khatlon Province, on the broad lowland plains that lead down to the Panj River, which marks Tajikistan's border with Afghanistan. The surrounding district has since been renamed Hamadoni. The town is set in a landscape shaped by irrigation, where long canals, rectangular fields and straight roads divide the flat ground into a regular pattern.
Like much of southern Tajikistan, the area was developed intensively during the Soviet period, when farmland was expanded across the valley and settlements were laid out to serve it. The town's name is a reminder of that era. Cotton and other crops here depend on water carried from the rivers through a wide network of channels.
A Moskovskiy map poster shows a clear, rational landscape: the grid of town streets, canal lines drawn as if with a ruler, and blocks of fields stretching away on every side. The few curving lines, of older channels and natural watercourses, stand out all the more against this geometry, giving the print a quiet tension.
Straight canals cross the plain around town, drawn as long, parallel lines that organise the fields and roads alike and make the map read like a technical plan.
The town is laid out in straight streets and rectangular blocks, a planned pattern typical of settlements that grew during the Soviet era.
Beyond the houses, the land breaks into rectangular fields separated by ditches and tracks, giving the map a precise, patchwork texture.
