Cleethorpes Map Poster & Print
Cleethorpes lies on the Lincolnshire coast at the mouth of the Humber Estuary, just south-east of Grimsby, with which it forms a continuous urban area. Its map is defined by the shoreline: a long promenade running along the sea front, with streets of Victorian and later houses spreading inland behind it.
At low tide the estuary uncovers broad expanses of sand and mud, and even on a map the coastline feels open and exposed. A pier, gardens along the front and the narrow-gauge Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway follow the seafront toward the dunes and nature reserve to the south.
The town grew as a resort after the railway arrived in the nineteenth century, and the Greenwich Meridian passes through it, marked by a signpost on the seafront. A Cleethorpes map poster shows a classic English seaside town, drawn between its terraced streets and the wide estuary.
