Darién, officially Calima El Darién, is a town in the Valle del Cauca department of Colombia, in the Western Cordillera. It sits close to Lake Calima, a large reservoir created by a dam on the Calima River. Because of steady winds on the lake, it has become a popular destination for windsurfing and kitesurfing, and people come from Cali and across the region for water sports and weekend breaks.
The area is also linked to the Calima culture, a pre-Columbian civilisation known for its gold work and pottery. The town's archaeological museum displays finds from the region. The town itself has a regular grid of streets on a hillside, with the lake's long arms reaching into the surrounding valleys.
