Horodok is a town in Lviv Oblast, about 30 kilometres west of Lviv on the main road toward the Polish border. It is one of the older settlements in the region, and its historic centre sits close to the Vereshchytsia river. Here the river widens into a large pond that forms the town's most striking feature on a map.
The street network reflects centuries of gradual growth. There's a compact old core with a market area and churches, older streets leading out in several directions, and later residential areas around them. The pond and river form a soft boundary on one side, while farmland and villages stretch out across the gently rolling land of Galicia.
