Jhālod is a town in Dahod district in eastern Gujarat, close to where the state borders Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The region is gently undulating and farmed, with a large tribal population, and Jhālod acts as a market and administrative centre for the villages around it.
From above, the town has a compact older centre of narrow streets, surrounded by newer growth that mostly follows the main roads. Beyond the edge of town, a patchwork of small fields and scattered hamlets fills the landscape. The shapes are irregular, following the rise and fall of the land.
