Il-mappa
Khortytsia is the largest island on the Dnipro. It lies within the city of Zaporizhzhia, just downstream of the DniproHES hydroelectric dam. The island stretches for roughly a dozen kilometres along the river and splits the flow into two channels, often called the Old and New Dnipro. On a map it is a long leaf of land set between the city’s two banks.
The northern part of the island is high and rocky, with granite cliffs dropping to the water. The south flattens into floodplain, backwaters and small lakes. Roads and paths run along its length, and bridges link it to both sides of the city. Zaporizhzhia’s streets fill the rest of the frame, so the island reads as a green pause inside the urban grid.
Khortytsia holds a central place in Ukrainian history as a base of the Zaporozhian Cossacks. Today much of it is a national reserve with a reconstructed Cossack fortress. A Khortytsia map poster places that story in its setting: a river island at the heart of an industrial city, framed by water and streets on every side.
The river divides around the island into two channels. They draw two parallel bands of water that run the full length of the composition.
The higher, granite northern part of the island faces the dam upstream. Its steep banks give that end of the outline a firmer, more angular edge.
Toward the south the land drops into backwaters, inlets and small lakes, so the outline breaks into finer shapes before the island ends in the river.

Għaliex Khortytsia
For many Ukrainians this island carries weight as a symbol of Cossack history and of Zaporizhzhia itself. People choose the poster as a reminder of home or a gift for someone from the city. It also stands on its own as a striking map of a river island inside a large town.
You can add your own title and subtitle, perhaps a family name, and a date or coordinates line. Choose among Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. The Paper and Sand styles give the river and the island a warmer, softer tone.
