This Luoyang is not the ancient capital in Henan. It is a town in Guangdong province, the seat of Boluo County within the city of Huizhou, and it lies on the northern bank of the Dong River, the East River of the Pearl River system. The river bends past the town, and the main urban area of Huizhou lies just across the water.
The town has grown quickly with the development of the Pearl River Delta. Newer districts of wide roads and large blocks spread out from the older riverside streets. Low hills rise beyond the town, and Luofu Mountain, a well-known Taoist site, lies elsewhere in Boluo County.
