Il-mappa
Olmaliq, often written Almalyk, grew during the Soviet period around copper, zinc and gold mining south of Tashkent. On a map the city is orderly: broad avenues in a regular pattern, large residential blocks, and industrial zones kept a little apart from the housing. The street plan is deliberate and spacious, typical of towns built around one major industry.
The mines are what make the surroundings unusual from above. The terraced walls of open pits and the flat surfaces of tailings and plant sites form geometric shapes unlike anything in a residential district. The foothills of the Kurama range rise beyond the city, and the street network thins out quickly where the slopes begin.
The Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine is one of the largest industrial enterprises in Uzbekistan, and much of the city's life has long depended on it. An Olmaliq map poster sets the clean planning of the town against the harder geometry of the industry around it. It shows a working city rather than a postcard view.
Wide streets run at regular intervals through the centre, framing large blocks of apartment buildings and public spaces. The layout is characteristic of Soviet-era industrial towns.
Near the city, haul roads and the stepped benches of the open pits form tight, rounded patterns. They contrast sharply with the straight streets of the residential districts.
Rising ground beyond the city marks the edge of the Kurama range. There the street network thins out and gives way to open slopes and scattered roads.

Għaliex Olmaliq
Many families moved to Olmaliq to work in its plants and mines, and for them the city plan records a lifetime of work. You can put their name or the town's name in the title, add a subtitle such as the year they arrived, and include the coordinates line.
Noir and Classic black & white bring out the industrial geometry. Sand and Paper give the poster a warmer, quieter feel, and Blueprint suits its engineering character. The digital set includes 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF files in six sizes.
