Ramsey is a borough in northern Bergen County, New Jersey, close to the New York state line and the Ramapo Mountains. Its map is organised around two strong lines. NJ Transit's Main Line runs through town with two stations, and Route 17 cuts across as a divided highway. The older downtown, with its shops and the Main Street station, sits close to the railway.
Around the centre, residential streets spread out in a mix of grids and curving suburban lanes, with plenty of trees and several ponds and brooks. To the west and north, the land starts to rise toward the Ramapos, and the streets become more irregular as they follow the slopes. Commuters rely on the railway to reach Hoboken and New York City.
