Sentul Map Poster
Sentul is a neighbourhood in the north of Kuala Lumpur, a few kilometres from the city centre. Its identity comes from the railway. In the early twentieth century the Federated Malay States Railways built their main workshops here, and the district grew around them as a working community of rail employees and their families, with shophouses, schools and places of worship close by.
The map shows that history in its layout. Rail lines and yard spaces cut across the area, while older streets of shophouses sit alongside newer condominium towers and the wide roads of more recent redevelopment. Sentul Park adds a patch of green and water, and within it stands the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre.
