Świdwin sits in the lowland of West Pomerania, where the Rega river winds through a landscape of farmland, woods and small lakes. From above, the town reads as a tight historic nucleus on the water, with newer residential blocks and detached houses spreading outward along the main roads. The oldest landmark is the castle, a brick fortress associated with the medieval military orders that once held this part of Pomerania, standing close to the river.
