Tak Long Estate is a public housing estate in Kowloon City district, built on land that once formed part of Kai Tak, Hong Kong's former international airport. On the map it appears as a set of large residential blocks within a planned street layout, a clear contrast to the tight, older streets of Kowloon City and To Kwa Wan nearby.
The Kai Tak development has turned the former airport into a new district of housing, parks and public facilities, including the Kai Tak Sports Park. The old runway, still stretching out into Kowloon Bay, remains the dominant shape in the area, a long straight strip of land that is instantly recognisable from above.
