About this Muar map poster
Muar stands on the southern bank of the Muar River, close to where it flows into the Strait of Malacca on the west coast of Johor. From above, the river is the main feature, a wide ribbon curving toward the sea. The older town centre lies along its bank in a compact grid of shophouse streets, and newer districts spread out behind it.
The town's official name is Bandar Maharani Bandar Diraja, the Royal Town, and it holds a historic place in the history of the Johor sultanate. Along the riverside, the Tanjung Emas park and a promenade lead toward the estuary. A Muar map poster shows this riverside setting with the town's grid laid alongside the water.
