The map
Sugito Map Poster & Print
Sugito is a town in eastern Saitama Prefecture, on the flat Kanto plain north of Tokyo. On the map, residential neighbourhoods, rice fields and small rivers are mixed together. The rail line runs through the town, and a planned residential area with curving streets sits alongside older settlements that follow field boundaries and waterways.
Like many towns in this part of Saitama, Sugito combines farming with commuting. Paddy fields remain close to housing estates, and trains take residents into the Tokyo area. The rivers and irrigation channels of the low-lying plain were shaped by centuries of flood control, and they still run across the landscape.
A Sugito map poster shows the texture of the outer Tokyo region: suburban streets, the geometry of farmland and the fine lines of water channels, all on level ground. It is a detailed and quietly layered map, and it suits people who know the rhythm of daily life on the Kanto plain.

Rice fields and housing
Paddy fields sit right beside residential streets, and the contrast between them creates a patchwork across the map.
Rivers and channels
Rivers and irrigation channels run across the flat plain and add long, thin lines of water to the pattern.
