The map
Nakhon Sawan sits in the lower north of Thailand at Pak Nam Pho, the confluence where the Ping and Nan rivers join to become the Chao Phraya, the river that flows on through Bangkok to the sea. On the map that meeting of waters is unmistakable, a Y-shaped junction with the city spread around it.
The centre lies mostly along the riverbanks, with a tight grid of commercial streets, markets and shophouses, while newer districts extend along the highways. To the east lies Bueng Boraphet, the largest freshwater swamp in Thailand, a broad expanse of water and marsh that outsizes the city itself on a regional map.
The city is also known for its Chinese New Year celebrations, among the largest in the country, reflecting a long-established Chinese community. A Nakhon Sawan map poster frames the city around its rivers, with bridges crossing the channels and streets following the banks, a composition that almost draws itself on the page.
The Ping and the Nan meet at the heart of the city and continue south as the Chao Phraya, the defining shape of the whole map.
Along the banks, the old commercial centre forms a dense grid of short streets and markets, the most detailed part of the poster.
East of the city, Thailand's largest freshwater swamp spreads across a wide area, its shoreline and waterways adding a large, soft shape on wider views.

Why Nakhon Sawan
For anyone from Nakhon Sawan, the river confluence is the emblem of home, and a map of it has an obvious symbolic weight. Personalise the poster with a title, a date in the subtitle and coordinates, for a gift or for your own wall.
Blueprint and Noir make the rivers stand out sharply, while Classic black & white, Paper and Sand are softer and more neutral. Download the $9 HD files in six sizes, or order a matte print shipped from a print partner.
