Bālurghāt is the headquarters of Dakshin Dinajpur district in West Bengal, a short distance from the international border with Bangladesh. The Atreyee River runs past the town, and the urban area stretches along its bank. The land here is almost perfectly flat, so the street pattern owes little to terrain and grows instead along the river, the main roads and a web of older lanes.
Around the town the landscape is farmland, mostly paddy fields broken by ponds and villages, typical of the plains of northern Bengal. The district is largely agricultural, and Bālurghāt serves as its market, administrative and educational centre. The nearby border has long shaped the town's trade and its sense of place, with the other side only a short journey away.
The Bālurghāt map poster is a study in quiet lines. The Atreyee draws a curving edge through the composition, the streets concentrate in a band beside it, and beyond them the map loosens into scattered roads and small water bodies. It is a gentle, uncluttered design that suits a plain wall and a generous amount of white space.
The river flows past the town in soft bends, and the built area follows it closely, giving the map a clear orientation around a single strong line of water.
The densest streets gather in a compact band near the river, while the edges of town spread thinner along the main roads leading out into the countryside.
Small ponds dot the neighbourhoods and the fields around them. On the map they appear as scattered solid shapes that give the outskirts a soft, dotted texture.

Ko e ha Bālurghāt
Bālurghāt is rarely on anyone's travel list, which is exactly why a map of it means something. It is bought by people who grew up here and now live elsewhere in India or abroad, and who want a precise, personal picture of the town rather than a generic image of Bengal.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a family name, a neighbourhood or a year. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The digital files cost $9 with no watermark, or you can order a printed poster on matte paper with an optional frame.
