Ko e mape
Caldera is a port town on the coast of the Atacama Region in northern Chile, set on a bay that offers shelter from the open Pacific. Behind it lies some of the driest land on earth. On the map that emptiness is striking: the streets fill a narrow strip near the water, with almost nothing drawn in the desert beyond.
The town has an important place in transport history. In 1851 it became the terminus of the railway to Copiapó, one of the first railways in South America, built to carry silver from the mining district inland. The old centre keeps a regular grid of blocks sloping toward the harbour, with the pier and waterfront forming the lower edge.
A Caldera map poster works especially well because the coastline is so clear. The curve of the bay, the headlands and the beaches further south toward Bahía Inglesa give the print a strong, graphic outline. The town's grid sits neatly beside them, small and orderly against the scale of desert and ocean.
The harbour curves around a protected bay, forming a clean, bold coastline that anchors the print and frames the town's streets along the water.
Caldera was the Pacific terminus of the 1851 railway to Copiapó, and the town's layout still reflects its origins as a port serving the mines inland.
Beyond the last streets the map is almost empty, with only a few roads crossing the Atacama. That contrast makes the town feel precise and compact.

Ko e ha Caldera
Caldera is a summer place for many families from Copiapó and the north of Chile, and a map of its bay recalls long days on the coast. The spare desert setting gives the poster a quiet, almost architectural clarity.
Add a title, a subtitle with a year or the name of a beach, and personalised coordinates. The five styles range from Classic black & white and Noir to Paper, Blueprint and Sand, the last a natural match for a desert coastline.
