Gul’kevichi is a town in Krasnodar Krai, in southern Russia, on the wide, fertile plain of the Kuban region. It grew up around a railway station, and the line through town still sets its layout. Streets follow a regular pattern of rectangular blocks, which is typical of settlements that expanded outward from a station on open, level ground.
On a map, the railway is the strongest straight line. The town's grid is arranged beside it, and long roads leave for surrounding villages across the farmland. The Kuban River flows nearby with its looser meanders, a softer counterpart to the rigid town plan. Large field plots fill much of the space in between.
A Gul’kevichi map poster shows this simple, legible order: rails, grid, fields and river. It is not dramatic scenery, but a clear picture of how steppe towns in southern Russia were laid out. In black and white, the long parallel streets and the wandering river line balance each other well.
The town's origins as a railway station show in the long, straight line of the tracks, which the rest of the street plan is arranged around.
Rectangular blocks extend across level ground in an even pattern, so the town has a clean, regular outline typical of the Kuban plain.
The Kuban River's meanders add a curving, natural line near the town, contrasting with the straight streets and field boundaries.
