Nevinnomyssk stands on the Kuban River in Stavropol Krai, in the northern foothills of the Caucasus. The river runs past the city in a broad valley, and the Nevinnomyssk Canal leaves it here to carry water east across the drier steppe. These two waterways give the map a clear structure, with neighbourhoods arranged between the river and the rising ground.
The settlement began in the nineteenth century as a Cossack stanitsa and grew into one of the region's main industrial centres. It is best known for its large chemical and fertiliser plant. That history shows in the city plan: housing in regular blocks, wide avenues, and large industrial zones with rail lines running beside them.
A Nevinnomyssk map poster shows a working city in plain lines. The river valley, the straight course of the canal, the grid of apartment districts and the railway threading through combine into a structured, calm composition. It is a good fit for someone who grew up here or worked at the plants.
The Kuban runs through a broad valley beside the city. Its floodplain leaves open space on the map between the water and the built-up districts.
The canal takes water from the Kuban and heads away across the steppe in a long, nearly straight line. It is one of the most distinctive engineered features in the region.
Large plant sites and rail yards appear as broad, sparse blocks set apart from the housing estates. They show the clear split between work and home that was typical of Soviet-era planning.
