Ko e mape
Nalchik is the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria, in the North Caucasus. It lies in the foothills, where the plain begins to rise toward the Greater Caucasus range. The Nalchik River flows through the city, and the streets on the map are arranged along its valley, with a regular grid in the centre and more winding roads on the higher ground to the south.
The most distinctive feature is the large park in the southern part of the city, one of the largest in the region. It extends from the city toward the wooded slopes and includes a lake and a cable car. On the map, it appears as a broad open space where the dense city meets the hills.
Nalchik has long been known as a spa resort, and on clear days the snow-capped peaks, including Elbrus, can be seen from the city. A Nalchik map poster shows the city at the edge of the mountains: the river valley, the grid of the centre and the green expanse of the park rising behind it.
The river flows through the city, and the main streets follow its valley, giving the map a clear line through the centre.
A large park in the south extends toward the forested foothills, forming a broad open area between the city and the slopes.
South of the centre, streets start to curve and climb as the land rises, showing the city's position at the edge of the Caucasus.
