Kotdwāra sits exactly where the flat Gangetic plains end and the first Himalayan foothills begin, in Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. The map shows this change sharply. To the south, fields and roads spread across level ground; to the north, the land folds into forested hills cut by narrow valleys. The Khoh River runs past the town as it leaves the hills for the plain.
For generations the town has been the gateway to Garhwal. Its railway station is the end of a branch line, and roads leave from here into the hills toward Lansdowne and Pauri. Markets, bus stands and residential colonies line the main roads, giving the town a stretched shape that follows the routes toward the mountains.
Nearby, Kanvashram on the Malini River is traditionally identified as the hermitage of the sage Kanva. It is linked to the story of Shakuntala and her son Bharata, from whom the name Bharat is said to come. A Kotdwāra map poster captures a town on a threshold, between plain and mountain, road and river.
The wide, stony bed of the Khoh River runs beside the town as it leaves the hills. This broad pale band dominates one side of the map.
North of the town, the street network stops sharply against forested ridges, drawing a clear line on the poster between the plain and the mountains.
Roads leave Kotdwāra for Lansdowne, Pauri and other hill towns. They wind into the valleys as thin curving lines that contrast with the straighter roads of the plain.

This map speaks to people from Garhwal who passed through Kotdwāra on every journey home, and to those who grew up in its colonies and markets. Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a family name or the year you left, and keep the coordinates line.
Noir makes the ridges and river bed dramatic, Blueprint gives a surveyor's look, and Classic black & white, Paper or Sand suit a quieter room. The digital set costs $9 and includes six sizes as 300 DPI PNG and PDF files. Printed and framed options are also available.
