Krishnarājāsāgara takes its name from the dam and reservoir built across the Kaveri River northwest of Mysuru in Karnataka. On a map, the reservoir is the largest shape by far. It is a wide, branching body of water that fills old river valleys, with fingers of shoreline running into the surrounding farmland. The dam is a firm straight line across its eastern edge.
Below the dam, the ground changes character. The Brindavan Gardens step down in formal terraces, and their symmetrical paths and water channels make a geometric pattern next to the looser lines of the river. The township is small and practical. Its short roads serve the dam works and the gardens, and the rest is open fields and irrigation canals leading away across the plain.
A Krishnarājāsāgara map poster is mostly about water and engineering. The reservoir's irregular outline sits against one ruler-straight wall, and the river comes out below it in a narrower, calmer form. In monochrome, the contrast between built and natural lines is very clear. The composition would work even for someone who has never heard of the place.

The Brindavan Gardens sit just below the dam as a formal grid of paths, pools and terraces. Their neat symmetry reads clearly against the open farmland around them.
The flooded valleys spread out in several arms, giving the reservoir a ragged, many-fingered outline that fills much of the frame at wider zoom levels.

Ko e ha Krishnarājāsāgara
People who grew up near Mysuru, visited the gardens on a family trip, or have an interest in India's early twentieth-century engineering often want this view on the wall. The shape is unusual: a small town next to a very large body of water.
You can add your own title and subtitle, and a date that means something to you, such as a visit or a family milestone. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the engineering subject especially well.
