Luebo lies in Kasai Province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, on the Lulua River, one of the main tributaries in the region. On the map, the river is the dominant feature, a broad, winding channel with the town on its banks and forested valleys along its tributaries.
The streets form a small, loose network, spread across the higher ground near the river. Beyond the town, the landscape alternates between savannah and strips of forest along the watercourses, crossed only by a few roads and tracks leading to other towns in Kasai.
