From above, its most important feature is the Grand Trunk Road, the historic route across northern South Asia, which runs through the town as a strong straight line. The railway follows a similar course, and the town has grown along these two corridors.
The land around Muridke is flat and intensively farmed, part of the fertile plain of central Punjab.
