Ko e mape
Nghi Sơn occupies the southern end of Thanh Hóa Province, where the coastal plain narrows between the Gulf of Tonkin and a line of low hills. It became a town in 2020, formed from the former Tĩnh Gia district, and its map reflects that origin: a string of separate settlements linked by the north-south national highway rather than one single dense centre.
From above, the coastline is the strongest feature, with sandy shores, river mouths and small headlands breaking up the edge of the land. Rice fields and aquaculture ponds form a patchwork on the flat ground behind the beaches. Toward the south, larger shapes appear, as the industrial zones and harbour basins of the economic zone are laid out on a very different scale.
The Nghi Sơn Economic Zone contains one of Vietnam's two oil refineries, along with a deep-water port and a power plant, and it has driven much of the area's recent growth. A Nghi Sơn map poster captures the contrast between traditional coastal villages and newly planned industrial ground in a single, clear composition that follows the sea from end to end.
The shoreline runs the full length of the area, interrupted by river mouths and small headlands. On the map it forms a long, continuous edge that gives the composition its direction.
In the south, port basins, the refinery site and industrial plots appear as large geometric shapes, clearly different from the small fields and village streets further north.
The national highway runs north to south through the area, linking its settlements into one line. Village roads branch from it toward the coast and toward the hills inland.
