Ko e mape
Pran Buri lies in Prachuap Khiri Khan province, south of Hua Hin, where the Pran Buri River crosses the coastal plain to reach the Gulf of Thailand. The town itself sits inland along the river and the main southern highway. A separate strip of beach resorts and villages lines the shore to the east, giving the map two distinct characters.
Between the town and the sea lie farmland, shrimp ponds and mangroves, which appear from above as flat, subdivided ground crossed by a few straight roads. Near the river mouth, the Pran Buri Forest Park protects a stretch of mangrove with raised boardwalks. Beyond it, the coast runs south in an almost unbroken line of sand.
Further south, the limestone peaks of Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park rise abruptly from the plain, and upstream a large dam holds the river back in a reservoir. A Pran Buri map poster brings the river, the coast and the town into one frame, a calmer alternative to the busier resorts to the north.
The river winds from the hills across the plain to the sea, passing the town on the way. Its curves give the map a natural spine running from west to east.
Near the river mouth, boardwalks cross a protected mangrove area. On the poster it shows as a dense, irregular zone between the farmland and the shore.
The Gulf of Thailand shore runs in a smooth, nearly straight line down the eastern side of the map, edged by a thin band of resorts and villages.
