Ridge-following roads
Main roads wind along the hillsides in continuous curves, looping around spurs and linking different levels of the town in patterns that would be impossible on flat ground.

Tura is the headquarters of West Garo Hills district in Meghalaya, in the far west of the state near the borders with Bangladesh and Assam. It is the largest town in the Garo Hills and a centre for the Garo people. From above, the town looks nothing like a plains settlement: its streets bend and fold along ridges and valleys, following the terrain closely.
The layout is shaped by slopes. Main roads trace contour lines and switch back between levels, while houses spread along spurs and down into small valleys. Streams cut through the town toward the lowlands. On the map, this creates a web of curving lines and irregular blocks, dense in the centre and thinning quickly into forest at the edges.
Tura Peak rises above the town and is a well-known viewpoint, and the Nokrek range, home to a national park and biosphere reserve, lies further inland. A Tura map poster captures how closely the town fits into the hills, a pattern shaped by landscape rather than planning, and a quiet reminder of the green country that surrounds it.
Main roads wind along the hillsides in continuous curves, looping around spurs and linking different levels of the town in patterns that would be impossible on flat ground.
The forested summit above the town appears as an open, green area on the map, surrounded by roads and settlement that climb only partway up its slopes.
Small streams run down through the town in narrow valleys, breaking the built-up area into separate ridges and adding fine natural lines to the composition.

Ko e ha Tura
Tura is home for many Garo families and a place students and officers return to long after moving away. A map shows the curves of the hill roads and the shape of the town among the ridges, something a flat photograph rarely conveys.
Personalise the title and subtitle with a locality, a family name or a date, and edit the coordinates line. Five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, let you match the poster to the room where it will hang.
