Ko e mape
Urrao is a municipality in western Antioquia, Colombia, set in a high valley of the Cordillera Occidental. The town centre sits on relatively flat ground, and on the map its streets form a compact grid around a main square. Beyond the grid the land rises quickly into steep hills and mountain ridges covered in pasture and forest.
The valley is drained by the Penderisco river, whose winding course passes near the town and collects streams descending from the surrounding slopes. From above the river and its tributaries draw fine curving lines across the valley floor, adding movement to the regular pattern of the town centre and the fields around it.
The municipality includes high páramo, among it the Páramo de Frontino, and part of Las Orquídeas National Natural Park. An Urrao map poster shows a town defined by its mountain setting, where a small, tidy central grid sits quietly within a landscape of rivers, steep ridges, páramo and protected forest.
The town centre follows a regular grid around a main square, a layout common to Antioquian towns that stands out clearly against the mountainous surroundings.
The river winds through the valley near Urrao, collecting streams from the slopes and adding a flowing line to the lower part of the map.
Ridges and high páramo rise around the valley, and the road network thins quickly beyond the town, leaving the poster with a sense of open, rugged space.
