Caravaca Map Poster & Print
Caravaca de la Cruz lies in the northwest of the Region of Murcia, among hills and valleys along the Argos river. The town is dominated by its castle hill. At the top, within the walls of the old fortress, stands the Basilica-Sanctuary of the Vera Cruz, which houses a relic of the True Cross that has made Caravaca a pilgrimage destination for centuries.
On a map, the castle sits on its hill like a small, enclosed shape at the top of the old town. Below it, narrow streets wind down and around the slope in an irregular pattern. As the ground flattens, later neighbourhoods follow straighter streets, and the main roads out of town cross the surrounding farmland and orchards.
Caravaca is one of the few places in the Catholic world granted a perpetual Jubilee Year, celebrated every seven years. Each May the town also holds the Caballos del Vino, when horses decked in embroidered cloaks race up the slope to the castle. A Caravaca map poster shows the steep streets that festival climbs.

Streets on the slope
Below the castle, the old town's lanes curve around the hill. Their tight, irregular pattern is the most detailed part of the poster.
Lower town
Where the land flattens, newer districts follow straighter streets and main roads. They show clearly how the town grew downhill from its historic core.
