Old town core
The historic centre is a tight knot of narrow streets and small squares, visibly denser than the planned blocks that later grew around it.

Carlet Map Poster & Print
Carlet lies in the Ribera Alta, the fertile inland district south of Valencia where citrus orchards cover almost every flat stretch of land. The town has a compact historic core with narrow, irregular streets that open onto squares. Wider avenues and newer blocks were added around it over time, and the orchards begin just beyond them.
Agriculture has shaped Carlet for centuries. The surrounding land is divided into small rectangular plots lined by irrigation channels, a pattern inherited from the old Valencian irrigation systems. Low hills rise to the west, where the plain gives way to rougher ground. Remains of the town's medieval castle and its parish church mark the historic centre.
A Carlet map poster shows a clear contrast: the tight, organic cluster of the old town against the ruled lines of the orchards all around it. Roads lead out toward neighbouring towns of the Ribera, and the edges of the frame fill with the fine grid of fields. In black and white, the agricultural pattern becomes almost textile-like.

Waarom Carlet
Een kaart met betekenis
Carlet is home to families whose lives have followed the orange harvest for generations. A map of its streets and groves keeps the shape of the town close, especially for anyone who has moved away from the Ribera.
