Contour-led roads
Instead of a grid, roads around Damiao follow the shape of the hills, producing long curves and hairpins that read almost like a hand-drawn line on the finished print.

Damiao Map Poster & Print
Damiao lies in the western part of Chongqing municipality, in the rolling uplands of the Sichuan Basin. This is country of low hills rather than high mountains, and from above the land looks crumpled into countless small ridges and hollows. Settlements here rarely follow a straight grid, and the roads around Damiao take their shape from the terrain they cross.
On a map of this landscape, the most expressive lines are often the smallest: farm tracks curling around hillsides, lanes that split and rejoin along valley bottoms, and the scattered outlines of ponds and small reservoirs that are common across the region. Built-up areas tend to gather where the ground is flattest.
A Damiao map poster turns that irregular pattern into something calm and legible. Without colour or relief shading, the hills are suggested purely by how the roads behave, bending, doubling back and branching. It is an honest portrait of a small place, drawn from its own streets rather than from any single landmark.

Scattered water
The hill country of western Chongqing is dotted with ponds and small reservoirs, which appear on the map as quiet solid shapes set between the fine lines of lanes and paths.
Compact centre
The built-up heart of the settlement forms a denser knot of streets, standing out clearly against the looser network of rural roads that radiates into the surrounding hills.

Waarom Damiao
Een kaart met betekenis
Places like Damiao rarely appear on souvenir shelves, which is exactly why a map of it carries weight. For people who grew up here or have family roots in the area, it is a way to keep the exact shape of home in view, far from Chongqing.
The poster can carry a personal title, a family name or an important date in place of the default text, and the coordinates line can be kept or changed. Five styles are available, from Classic black & white and Noir to Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
